Our Story
How We Started
Two brothers, Alan and Victor, bought this building — once home to Isaac Arriaga's grocery store — to keep its community spirit alive. They opened La Carreta Rosa first, then Helados El Güero, carrying on Mexican culture and tradition for a new generation.
Made With Family Recipes
Helados El Güero opened its doors on July 18, 2026, with a celebration to match the occasion. Alan and Victor's family came together for the ribbon cutting, with live music playing well into the evening.
More Than Ice Cream
Alan makes every batch of ice cream himself, using a recipe passed down through his family. Sharing it with the Council Bluffs community is his passion — a labor of love in every scoop.
Our Vision
Our vision is to serve the community we grew up in and share the beauty of Mexican culture with everyone here — with discounts for CB teachers, CB students, and CB school alumni as a small way of giving back. We also host back-to-school drives, collecting backpacks and supplies for local kids in need.
